Think about displaying some posters to promote it - these will be available soon. In the meantime, check out the web cards. We will have a great trivia night during Library and Information Week on Wednesday 26 May. Come and enjoy the Friday happy hour and music at the Hotel Kurrajong, National Circuit, Barton, while you catch up with people and events. No formal meeting. Can you help with library history?Marie Sexton is working on a project to provide captions to photos of library events taken by NLA photographers. One important event covered in this project was the Library Association of Australia's 50th anniversary celebrations in September 1987. Marie knows that the 'LAA 50 committee' made the arrangements, and this committee seems to have been a subcommittee of the ACT branch. She is now looking particularly for lists of the foundation or early members who attended at the committee's invitation. Margaret Thomson, a Canberra librarian, was perhaps the convener - she certainly reported on the arrangements to the LAA General Council in April 1987. Marie is looking at ALIA and LAA records in the National Library of Australia and also in the ACT Heritage Library, which holds six boxes of records. Can you help Marie to contact Margaret Thomson, or to identify foundation or early members who attended these LAA 50th anniversary celebrations? If so, please e-mail Marie at msexton@netspeed.com.au.nospam (please remove '.nospam' from address) or call her on ph 02 6247 7795. Hope to see you at the Library Week Trivia night!
