Events for November and beyond

RSVP? It means what it says. Sometimes organisers of an event must know what numbers to expect. If they request an 'RSVP' and you plan to attend, please oblige them.

  • Monday 4 November URLs. 12:30pm in the McDonald Room, Menzies Library, ANU. Marie-Louise Ayres, MusicAustralia's project manager, will introduce MusicAustralia, one of the most challenging and exciting digitisation projects currently under way. See and hear some of Australia's best known songs, sing along to MusicAustralia's multimedia 'synchronisations' of score and audio.   • Wednesday 6 November. ACT Health Libraries forum and ACT Special Librarians Joint meeting. 12:30pm-1:30pm, Australian Institute of Health and Welfare, 6A Traeger Court, Fern Hill Park, Bruce ACT. Jennefer Nicholson will talk about the LISEKA project: developing a national approach to career-long education of library and information workers for the 21st century.   • Thursday 7 November Librarians' libations ACT Specials and friends networking and good fellowship at the Kurrajong from 5:30pm. Contact: Julie Philips, ph 02 6208 5112, jphilips@nma.gov.au
  • Monday 11 November. 5:30pm-6:30pm. Mary E. Jackson, senior program officer in the Association of Research Libraries, and manager of the ARL Scholars Portal Project, will talk about innovative developments in access to resources for scholars through the Scholars Portal. National Library Theatre. Contact: Roxanne Missingham, rmissingham@nla.gov.au.
  • Monday and Tuesday, 11 and 12 November. The National Resource Sharing Policy Committee and Working Group will conduct a resource sharing forum and field day at the NLA. All library decision makers, interlibrary loan and document delivery practitioners are invited. For details see http://www.nla.gov.au/rsforum/index.html.
  • Wednesday 13 November. ACTive ALIA monthly meeting. All members of ALIA in the ACT region are warmly invited to attend. 5:30pm in the Training Room, 4th Floor NLA. Contact Secretary Judy Brooker on ph 02 6230 2266 or judith.brooker@alianet.alia.org.au.
  • Monday 25 November URLs. Fran Wilson from the National Library, and project manager of the 12 month pilot AskNow! service will talk about this interactive, virtual reference service, offered Australia-wide. Meetings are held in the 4th Floor conference room of the NLA, unless otherwise notified, commencing at 5:30pm with a little good fellowship over some nice wine and nibbles.
