Events for December and beyond
RSVP? It means what it says. Sometimes organisers of an event MUST know what numbers to expect. If they request an 'RSVP' and you plan to attend, please oblige them.
- Saturday, 1 December. ACT Library Technicians. Our end of year get-together, from 4:40pm in Lyons. Go hand in hand with LCSH and AACR2 down Dewey Lane along with Donna Reid. Bring a plate (with food of course) instead of Filing Rules and a gold coin. - Friday, 7 December ACT Specials. No Libations, but breakfast at 'bookplate' restaurant (Ground Floor, NLA) from 7:30am-9:00am. Normally this is our AGM breakfast, but as we are no longer required to have an AGM, we have invited Vickie Richardson from Netimpact Online Publishing as our guest speaker. Vickie has recently returned from London after collecting yet another award for her company's work. All welcome. Cost is $20.00. RSVP by 4 December to: david.bradley@cbr.defence.gov.au.
- Tuesday, 11 December URLs. Julia Blixrud, director of information services, Association of Research Libraries, Washington, will talk on 'Issues and challenges for research libraries in the 21st century'. 12:30pm, in the McDonald Room, Menzies Library, ANU. Contact: Colin Steele, ph 02 6125 2003.
- Wednesday, 12 December. APSIG. Christmas lunch. Rubicon Restaurant, Griffith Shops, 12:15pm. $20.00 a head for a fine lunch. All welcome, come and enjoy some Christmas jollity with good food. Pre-bookings essential: RSVP by 10 December to: dorothea.polonyi@anu.edu.au.
- Wednesday, 12 December. ALIA members in the ACT are invited to a special showing of the NLA Centenary Exhibition: 'Treasures from the World's Great Libraries', with a tour by the curator of the exhibition, Margaret Dent. 5:00pm-6:00pm. Cost $10.00. The tour will be followed by the group Christmas party. RSVP (vital!) by 30 November to: Julie Ward, Branch secretary, jward@nla.gov.au.
