  3. The president welcomed those present to the meeting.

  4. Minutes of the last meeting:
The minutes from the meeting of 13 February 2002 were accepted with the following amendments: Sherrey Quinn, Ian McCallum, Glenis Matheson and Marion Boyd were in attendance, item 5, Beth reported not Sonja.

    Business arising from the minutes
Sherrey Quinn reported that earlier this year a number of users of ALIAnet reported difficulty accessing the ALIAnet service. This was discussed between Roxanne Missingham, Sherrey Quinn and Jennefer Nicholson on 13th March. It seems that some increase in capacity of ALIAnet can possibly be made without great expense, and Jennefer has undertaken to see that this is done.
Action: Sherrey volunteers to monitor ALIAnet and follow up if necessary.

Sherrey also reported that PEARLS has had some difficulty in getting free listings in inCite for its meetings because it is not on the list of official ALIA groups. However, in recognition of the fact that PEARLS is an official sub-group of ACTive ALIA, PEARLS' notices will be accepted for inCite in future if whoever lodges the notices points out that PEARLS is part of ACTive ALIA. National Office notes that not all individuals who belong to PEARLS are ALIA members and suggests that those who aren't should be encouraged to join.
Action: ACTive ALIA will need to pass these two points on to PEARLS.

  5. Reports
    • President's report:
Helen congratulated Ian McCallum on receiving the HCL Anderson Award from the ALIA Board of Directors. Helen gave a number of bills to the secretary to be passed onto the treasurer.
    • Treasurer's report:
No report was available. Julie W. reported that Susanne Bruhn had expressed some concerns about the cost of the ACTive ALIA Christmas function and function costs in general. A discussion followed on function costs. All agreed that the Christmas function and Treasures' tour had been very successful. When marvelous opportunities such as the Treasures exhibition come up we need to utilize them. It was agreed that we need to work on a cost recovery basis and charge appropriately for functions.
    • Secretary's report:
Julie reported on the Electronic Resources Workshop ALIA Riverina arrangements. Christopher Griffiths (convenor ALIA Riverina) said they are happy to pay for petrol costs and will provide refreshments throughout the afternoon. They would like us to bring a laptop and litepro for the presentations. Nerida Hart cannot make it to the workshop. Jan suggested that one of Nerida's staff may like to participate. No reply had been received from Margaret Cazabon.
Action: Julie will contact Nerida again and see if one of her staff will present her paper and try phoning Margaret.
