The ALIA National Advisory Congress 2005

Regional meetings program

  • Celebrating success: members will be asked to celebrate success by relating successes achieved by the association in their region this year.
    Purpose: the most popular success story from the meeting will be presented by representatives to the NAC meeting. The success stories are included in the reports of regional meetings that are loaded onto the ALIA website. They are also featured in a celebrating success column in inCite.
    Duration: 15 mins

  • ALIA stars program: members will be given an outline of the program and asked to provide ideas on how the program can be used as an advocacy tool by the association.
    Purpose: to provide the association with ideas to further the effectiveness of the ALIA stars as part of the advocacy program.
    Duration: 15 mins

  • Election of directors: discussion of the proposed changes to the constitution to simplify the system for election of directors.
    Purpose: members will have a greater understanding of the issues and the benefits of the proposed new model for elections.
    Duration: 15 mins

  • Workforce planning and education: an opportunity for the regional meetings to raise local issues relating to education, employment and workplace needs and to contribute to developing ALIA's advocacy agenda in workforce planning.
    Purpose: to provide the association with information to support its advocacy program in the area of workforce planning and education.
    Duration: 15 mins

  • Research awards: a handout is available at this meeting about the ALIA research awards.
    Purpose: to highlight these awards to members and encourage them to consider undertaking research and apply for these awards to support their research. Further information about the awards and how to apply for them can be found on the ALIA website.
    Duration: 10 mins

  • Questions: an opportunity for members to ask questions and discuss local issues for ALIA in their region. If there are any questions raised that cannot be answered at the meeting they will be put on notice and referred to National Office. Answers will be supplied to members in the region as quickly as possible.
    Duration: 15 mins

  • Evaluation: an evaluation form has been provided to encourage members to provide feedback on the regional meetings. Members are asked to complete the form as their feedback will assist us to improve planning for future regional meetings.
    Duration: 5 mins

Note: a short presentation about ALIA's PD services may be delivered before or after the program items.
