ALIA National Policy Congress 2000

Report and recommendations to the Board of Directors and members

Prepared by Christine McLaren and Roxanne Missingham

Role of the National Policy Congress

The role of the inaugural National Policy Congress is to prepare recommendations to the Board of Directors on the topical issues put before it, that is, ALIA's overall structure, future of divisional conferences and the feasibility of accrediting library services.

ALIA's structure

The key topic of the inaugural NPC was the overall structure of ALIA. The NPC framed recommendations on a structure that would support the achievement of ALIA's objects. The NPC moved towards a consensus on the structure and provided recommendations on this for the consideration of the Board of Directors.
