- The 2010 edition of the Best Practices for Government Libraries document, produced by LexisNexis, is now available. This edition includes over 70 articles and other submissions provided by more than 60 contributors from [mostly US] librarians in governement agencies, courts, and the military, as well as professional assocation leaders, LexisNexis Consultants, etc.

- This meeting mark the 1st birthday for the Committee. Much work has been achived in our first 12 months of operation.
- Discussion on the value & role of special librarians
- Finalise the expression of interest for the Statistical Study
Teleconference 28 April 2010 Major issues considered by the Committee were:
- Specials stream at the ALIA Access 2010 Conference.
- Launch of the new Special Libraries Wiki in May.
- Board approval for the Statistical Study of Australian Special Libraries.
- August issue of Incite featuring Special Libraries
Teleconferences January - February 2011
- main focus is the final report of the Special Libraries survey for the ALIA Board. Once the report has been approved by the Board the findings will be distributed to the special libraries sector
- the Committee will use the findings from the Special Libraries survey to create facts and figures advocacy publications
- creation of a PD subcommittee to investigate PD events to compliment the Specials stream at biennial conferences

The Australian Libraries Gateway (ALG) portal is a valuable tool for special libraries. Developed by the , the ALG is a free directory with on more than 5,000 Australian libraries, their collections and services.
The ALG libraries have password access to update or amend details about themselves, their services and collections. Suggested uses of ALG include:
