Since the last Board of Directors meeting, the Public Libraries Reference Group (PLRG) met by teleconference on 8 April 2004.

ALIA 2003-2004 Plan, Initiative N

A key role of the reference group is as a steering committee for Initiative N in the ALIA 2003-2004 Plan (Implement a strategic program for public libraries, focusing on partnerships, advocacy and standards and benchmarks). This is reported in Item 4.1 (20 May).

ALIA Policies

The PLRG has reviewed ALIA policies relevant to public libraries and has developed a new draft Statement on public library services. This is covered under Item 3.2 (20 May).

Membership of the Reference Group

Christine Payne and Beth McLaren have resigned form the PLRG. Recommendations for new appointments to the Reference Group are presented in Item 3.3.1 (20 May)
