ALIA Copyright and Intellectual Property Working Group

Terms of reference

Purpose

The ALIA Copyright and Intellectual Property Working Group is to advise the ALIA Board of Directors on:

  • submissions to government and other bodies on matters relating to copyright and intellectual property. Submissions may be in response to a call for submissions or at the instigation of the working group for lobbying or advocacy purposes;
  • the development of policy statements or documents relating to copyright and intellectual property;
  • policy matters of interest and concern to members. Such matters may be referred from or to the ALIA Board of Directors;
  • representation on and liaison with appropriate bodies; and
  • other matters as determined by the ALIA Board of Directors

Review

The working group shall be subject to the review requirements of the ALIA Board no more than every two years.

Membership

Membership will comprise members of the Association with expertise in copyright and intellectual property policy and practices. The working group may co-opt expertise as needed in particular areas and which is not available through the Association's members.

Terms of Office

Members will be appointed for two-year terms.

Communication

The working group will meet electronically or face-to-face as needed but at least once year a year. The working group shall report as required on matters referred by the Board of Directors. The working group may refer matters of interest or concern to the Board of Directors for consideration.

Secretariat

ALIA National Office will provide secretariat support.
