IFLA FAIFE World Report 2005

ALIA completes the questionnaire for Australia for the ILFA/FAIFE (Committee on Free Access to Information and Freedom of Expression) world report. This report aims to give a global picture of the state of freedom of access to information. The questions for the 2005 World Report sought information on the level of internet access offered by libraries, use of filtering software and financial barriers to accessing information. Special issues addressed for the 2005 report included user privacy and anti-terror legislation, violations of intellectual freedom, HIV/AIDS awareness, and women and freedom of access to information. The questionnaire also asked about the adoption of codes of ethics, the IFLA internet manifesto and IFLA Glasgow declaration by library associations and libraries.

The reference group provided advice for ALIA's response, which was submitted on 5 April 2005.

The 2005 World Report will be launched at the IFLA Conference, Oslo, August 2005.
