Take home messages

• The Board members and ALIA National Office executive staff gave presentations about their background and experience which provided an insight into the wide range of expertise that is brought to ALIA and contributes to its governance and strategic directions
• As part of good governance which includes the Board's self assessment, Board processes were reviewed
• The ALIA annual report and financial statements will be published in the June issue of inCite
• Membership of the six ALIA Standing Committees was endorsed and a review of the terms of reference was referred to the committees
• ALIA will investigate the alignment of the financial year (currently calendar year) to the ALIA membership year (currently the standard financial year July-June)
• The Board confirmed the appointment of WalterTurnbull as ALIA's auditors
• The 2010 National Advisory Congress meetings will focus on the theme of Volunteering
• ALIA's partnerships and MOUs were reviewed by the Board
• ALIA's advocacy initiatives and new website resources were endorsed
• The National Year of Reading 2012 was endorsed by the Board.
