ALIA Board of Directors December 2009
16 December 2009
Take home messages
- The bids for the upcoming ALIA conferences in 2011 (New Librarians Symposium) and 2012 (Biennial) were discussed. Further conversations will continue as a decision is made as to who will be hosting these exciting events.
- The deadline for nominating for the ALIA Board is not that far away - Wednesday 13 January - and we encourage you to nominate yourself (or perhaps nudge a colleague you know!). Further details can be found at http://www.alia.org.au/governance/elections/2010/
- The board spent considerable time discussing the association's financial and strategic directions, with a particular focus on articulating ALIA's goals and priorities for 2010-2015. This conversation will continue in the new year at the Boards strategic planning day. So stay tuned. The membership survey that many of your kindly completed recently will of course help inform this process.
- The reaction to the consultation paper Developing a National Vision and Framework for Australian Public Libraries which came out of the recent Public Libraries Summit has been excellent and to enable ALIA members and public library bodies to provide a full and detailed response, we have extended the deadline to 8 January 2010.
