Take home messages

  • A Vision and National Framework for Public Libraries has been distributed to key stakeholders with comments requested by 11 December 2009
  • The Board recognised the outstanding contribution of ALIA Board members, staff and volunteers in the area of course recognition and the LT Educators Annual Meeting.
  • A number of appointments to ALIA Committees were approved. Congratulations are offered to Matt Dawes, Kevin Marsh, David Wells and Sandra Ryan, and thanks extended to Matthew Rimmer who is standing down for his interest and support.
  • The Board endorsed the Association’s Policy Statements which have been reviewed and in some instances amended. Thanks were extended to those individuals who contributed to the discussion.
  • The Membership and Awards Standing Committee reported that a review of ALIA’s Awards is currently being undertaken.
  • The Board discussed the outcomes of the 2009 National Advisory Congress regional meetings and how this information can be incorporated into the Association’s planning processes.
  • Convenor of the ALIA 2010 Conference, Graham Black, provided an update on the programming for this event.
