ALIA Board meeting November 2007 (via teleconference): key issues

2007 National Advisory Congress:
the full report of the regional meetings and final teleconference are on the ALIA web site http://www.alia.org.au/governance/nac/2007/ and will be discussed in detail at the December Board meeting. At the teleconference the major issues such as support for members in regional areas, employment, education and advocacy were discussed.

Federal Election 2007:
The President and Executive Director have approached major and minor parties about library issues with responses available from http://www.alia.org.au/advocacy/election07/ . Further advocacy is continuing. ALIA Conference Manual: The Board agreed to extend the consultation period for the draft manual to 20 November 2007 and that a second teleconference will be held in December.

ALIA Information Online Conference 2009:
A Professional Conference Organiser was approved for this conference.

ALIA Representative on the PLA Board
The Board resolved to appoint Michelle Brennand as the ALIA representative on the Public Libraries Australia Board.

Beyond the Hype 2.0
The Board approved the budget for the Beyond the Hype: Web 2.0 event to held on 1-2 February 2008.

Board Election Schedule 2008
The Board of Directors confirmed the Election Schedule for 2008.

Ray Choate Scholarship
The recipient of the Ray Choate Scholarship for 2007 was recommended.
