ALIA Board meeting 28 September 2007 (via teleconference): key issues
ALIA Conferences Procedures:
- The draft ALIA Conference Manual was approved in principle by the Board of Directors and is to be released to members for a four week consultation period. The Board will be the authority for any major changes to the manual. The draft ALIA Conference Manual can be found at http://www.alia.org.au/governance/committees/standing/conferences.html
- A separate Invitation to Tender for a PCO for the 2009 ALIA Information Online Conference and the 2009 ALIA National Library and Information Technicians Conference will each be issued as soon as possible. An Invitation to Tender for a PCO for all of ALIA’s Conference’s held from 2010/11, will be drafted and issued by mid 2008.
IFLA 2010
The Board endorsed Keith Webster’s appointment as the Chair of the National Committee for the IFLA WLIC 2010 in Brisbane. The Board requested that Keith Webster form the National Committee and the National Advisory Committee, as part of IFLA’s requirements of the host nation, and propose members for these committees, for endorsement at the December 2007 Board meeting.
Launch of Uniting a Profession
The President attended the launch of Uniting a Profession: A History of the Australian Institute of Librarians from 1939-1947, by Jean Whyte and David Jones, held in the Mitchell Room at the State Library of NSW. The launch was a great success, with many people attending and several copies of the book sold on the night.
