Duties and responsibilities

Executive director

The executive director is a non-voting member of the Board, appointed under clause 13.4 of ALIA's Constitution. The Board determines the powers and duties of this position and the terms and conditions of employment are determined under contract.

Specific functions of the executive director under the By-laws include:

  • consideration of the nomination of candidates for membership of the Association [By-law 1];
  • determination of special grants to groups up to $5000 [By-law 2];
  • the keeping of full membership records [By-law 1];
  • the conduct of Association ballots [By-law 4];
  • the Board of Directors has delegated authority to the executive director to make decisions on an investment strategy for the Association on an ongoing basis, acting on advice from the manager, finance and administration and the ALIA broker.
