Than you may be interested in some of the training programmes available in Australia in the area of corporate governance. Women in Technology (WiT) Board ReadinessAn annual training programme with has 12 placements per year. Acceptance into the training programme is by submission of an application addressing specific criteria. The training programme is only open to women and to WiT members (i.e. $143 personal membership and $990 corporate membership). It is Queensland based. Applications close early December each year. Australian Institute of Corporate Directors (AICD)Provides a diverse array of courses covering all aspects of board processes and corporate governance. Course fees vary depending on the duration and content of the course, ranging from a few hundred dollars to a few thousand. Courses range from half a day to 3 days. Courses are open to anyone and are available nationally. Further information: http://www.companydirectors.com.au/default.htm Certificate IV in Business (Governance)A diploma certificate that was an initiative from the Australian Institute of Community Practice and Governance (AICPG). The certificate focuses on key aspects of corporate governance including roles and responsibilities of board members, managing a board meeting, reviewing the business plan, managing assets. Four day programme at $495 per day or $1100 for the full 4 days. The certificate is available from TAFEs throughout Australia. All sessions are aimed at women. Subscription to Women on Boards is not required to attend any of the sessions. Sessions are available throughout all of Australia.
