Four new Director appointments to be made at ALIA

In accordance with its Constitutional requirements the ALIA Board called for nominations for three upcoming Director vacancies and one Vice-President (President elect vacancy).

Sufficient nominations were received to fill the vacancies but insufficient for an election to be held.

As a result the following people will be appointed as Directors at the Annual General meeting to be held on May 15 2012.

The appointees are:

Vice-President (President Elect) : Julie Rae. Julie is currently a Board member of ALIA and the Director, Information and Research for the Australian Drug Foundation. Julie has been an ALIA member since 1985 and was Chair of the IFLA Section : Libraries serving person with print disabilities from 2009-2011.

Directors:

Edmund Balnaves: Edmund is an Associate Life Member of ALIA and first joined in 1979. Edmund is the Founder and Principal of Prosentient Systems and has served on the IFLA Information Technology section Standing Committee and been its Information Officer for the past 6 years.

Elke Dawson. Elke is currently Deputy Director (Resource and Access Services) at Central Queensland University Library. Elke is an Associate member of ALIA. Elke first joined the Association in 1985 and rejoined in 2005.

Aileen Weir. Aileen is currently the (Acting) Director Reader Services at the National Library of Australia. Aileen is an Associate member of ALIA. Aileen first joined the Association in the 1990's and rejoined in 2006.

The current Board thanks these members for making a contribution as Board members and looks forward to welcoming them to their duties in May.
