Cobram Library & Learning Centre
New build or refurbishment: Extension to the existing Cobram Civic Centre
Budget: $2 Million
Architect: CohenLeigh Architects
Project Completed: 01/03/2017
In 2009 a review was undertaken by the Goulburn Valley Regional Library Corporation (GVRLC) and its Branch libraries. This report aimed to provide long-term aspirations for library services across the GVRLC region and within their respective municipalities. One of the key findings of the report was that the ‘Cobram library needed to be re-located in town, away from the School’.
Prior to 2017, the Cobram Library was situated at the local secondary college & resultantly, lacked a physical connection with the township. It shared spaces with teacher’s offices & student classrooms, and thus, was severely restricted in providing usage & engagement with community groups & the wider public.
