ALIA QLD is excited to bring an event to QLD about critical perspectives in library practice. The event will aim to discuss the theory of critical librarianship and then break out into groups to discuss and brainstorm what it means to bring social change into the library. This will be around topics such as library neutrality, social justice in strategic planning, Indigenous inclusion and respect, homelessness, LGBTQIA+ inclusion and respect, and refugee and asylum seekers. We want to explore how it might look in your library and what we can all do to begin these critical conversations.
As well as thought-provoking and inspiring discussions, this will be a great opportunity to collectively tackle difficult topics and network with like-minded library people from many different walks of life.
Lunch will be provided.
