The Supreme Court of Queensland Library Committee is seeking to appoint a new Librarian to lead the Supreme Court of Queensland Library.
The Library is the State’s principal legal information provider, delivering innovative information services to members of the Queensland judiciary, legal
profession and the community. Its extensive resources span local, national and international materials, accessible online via the Library catalogue, as
well as a comprehensive collection of print research materials, totaling more than 150,000 items.
The Librarian reports to the Chair, Supreme Court Library Committee, which is the governing body for the Library. It comprises members of the judiciary, as
well as nominees from each of the Queensland Law Society, Bar Association of Queensland, and the Attorney-General and Minister for Justice.
This position of Librarian provides a unique opportunity for a dynamic and committed professional. It requires strong leadership to drive a
customer-focused culture that includes the identification of emerging issues and trends that affect both the profession and the
strategic direction of the Library.
Success in this role requires the management of an efficient specialist library, including budget management, collection development, cataloguing systems
and practices, that is based on contemporary approaches to knowledge management.
