The University of Sydney Library assists the University to achieve its strategic goals by developing, implementing and delivering a portfolio of services that support the University’s core business of research, innovation, learning and teaching, and the student experience.

We are currently seeking a Director, Central Services to provide strategic and focused leadership for the Library’s central, reporting, communication and planning functions and, together with the University Librarian, to support the development and ongoing implementation of the Library’s strategic and change management agenda.

Working closely with the University Librarian, you will:

  • provide leadership and vision for the activities managed by the Library’s Central Services Division
  • act as the Library’s lead in relation to HR and Finance matters
  • lead and manage a range of projects to support management and strategic priorities
  • improve the quality and effectiveness of library activities
  • support the delivery of client-focused services.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • demonstrated experience of strategy development and planning and the implementation, delivery and ongoing management of strategic initiatives
  • strong leadership and negotiation skills, including the ability to influence and collaborate with staff across a diverse organisation as well as with external contractors and agencies
  • excellent project management skills with the demonstrated ability to work to deadlines
  • experience in managing the collection, manipulation, analysis, dissemination and utilisation of diverse data
  • experience in developing or overseeing the development of policy and practice
  • demonstrated extensive human resources, Work, Health and Safety, financial management and budget-setting experience.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a driven, experienced and talented professional to join the University’s library leadership team and work in close collaboration with the University Librarian to provide strategic and focused leadership for the Library.
