We are seeking people with a team-oriented client service approach who will contribute to the continuous improvement of Council’s facilities and services.

Parramatta City Library seeks a motivated, proactive and service oriented librarian to provide leadership in one of Parramatta’s five branch libraries.

You will be responsible for:

· Managing one of the Council’s five branches, including: supervision of staff; responsibility for circulation and collection development, and providing exceptional customer service

· Marketing and promoting library services through events; user education and outreach programs

· Managing physical resources and environment

· Developing partnerships with community organizations to deliver best practice services for the community

The focus of the role in the future is dependent on the needs of the organization and our clients.

This position is fulltime 35 hours per week and includes an evening shift and weekend work. The successful applicant will be able to work across all library sites as required. Suitably qualified and experienced candidates must provide a CV and separate written responses to each of the selection criteria

SELECTION CRITERIA

Essential

  • Recognized tertiary qualification (Bachelor or higher) in Information Science/Librarianship (eligible for professional membership of the Australian Library and Information Association).
  • Management experience in a public library environment
  • Demonstrated exceptional customer service skills
  • Ability to work with and provide services for people from a diverse range of cultural backgrounds and communities
  • Demonstrated people skills including: teamwork, dealing with conflict and problem solving
  • Sound knowledge of current library trends and technology development

Desirable

  • Exceptional skills in marketing and promotions
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and currency with new and emerging technologies and web based applications.
