Macquarie University is first among the nation's universities under 50 years of age due to significant investment in areas of research excellence. The new Macquarie University Library opened in August 2011 and is the first University Library in Australia to install an Automated Storage and Retrieval System (ASRS). This technology underpins a shift in focus from traditional hard copy resources to support for technology enabled learning.

Within the Library, the Library Planning and Development team plans, coordinates and implements a range of operational and strategic programs, projects and initiatives that contribute to University goals in research, teaching and learning. To ensure effective coordination, recording and reporting of these activities we are seeking a highly organised and capable team player.

The Role

As the Library Program Support Officer, you will be responsible for assisting with a range of administrative and logistical support requirements including communications, administration, stakeholder liaison and website maintenance. You will consistently demonstrate your initiative and your ability to manage multiple tasks and work in a demanding, deadline driven environment.

Reporting to the Innovation and Communication Manager, you will ensure projects and programs are coordinated in adherence with the Library's Project Management Framework and maintain a project register including regular reporting against milestones, issues and achievements.

In addition to the more formal projects and programs you will also provide support for other initiatives such as community programs, library sector events and exhibitions.

To be successful you will be able to demonstrate prior experience in project coordination and support along with a high level of communication and organisational skills. Your strengths will lie in accuracy, data analysis, reporting and the ability to build effective and collaborative relationships.

Selection Criteria

  • Degree, diploma or equivalent experience in project management, communications or business administration.
  • Demonstrated skill in project support and administration.
  • Demonstrated skill in data handling, data analysis and reporting.
  • Working knowledge of web editing and maintenance including content development and CMS software.
  • Skill and experience in developing and maintaining stakeholder relationships.
  • Demonstrated skills in standard office software and experience in providing application and/or process training and support.
