Macquarie University is first among the nation's universities under 50 years of age due to significant investment in areas of research

University Library opened in August 2011 and is the first University Library in Australia to install an Automated Storage and Retrieval
System (ASRS). This technology underpins a shift in focus from traditional hard copy resources to support for technology enabled
learning.
Within the Library, the role of the Library Services team is to deliver client focused services utilising new and emerging technologies
in line with University strategic directions for a blended learning and research experience.
The Role
As a Library Services Coordinator you have a dual responsibility to lead a team focusing on service support as well as being a shift
coordinator managing a diverse group of people, ensuring the safety of all clients and taking charge of the library building outside of
core hours.
Reporting to a Library Services Manager you are responsible for ensuring the successful delivery of face to face and virtual services
to our clients and customers. As supervisor of the Support for Discovery Services group you will be a champion of innovation in
integrated, client-facing discovery systems and services. You will assist in transforming library service provision by leading a
collaborative and engaged group who actively participate in planning, developing and implementing services and products that meet the
current and future needs of our clients.
To be successful you will need to have had prior experience in leading and/or managing a team and have high level of communication and
organisational skills. Your exceptional relationship management skills will support effective negotiation with internal and external
stakeholders aimed at achieving effective services and practice. Pivotal to the role will be with the ability to coach, train and
supervise staff both within the team and across multiple service zones.
The ability to remain calm at all times, think on your feet, be solution oriented and client centred are essential to success.
Day evening and weekend shifts will be required.
Selection Criteria

Degree, or equivalent experience in libraries or service industries;

Skill and experience in managing and/or leading a team;

Demonstrated understanding and experience with integrated client-facing discovery systems and services;

Skill and experience in coordinating a busy and complex frontline service;

Skill and experience in identifying and implementing client focused and evidence–based service improvements;

Excellent written and verbal communication skills;

Skill and experience in developing and managing relationships with clients, customer and stakeholders.
