We are seeking a permanent Library Technician to deliver a range of quality customer and library services to our community. Play an integral role as an effective team member at Toowong Library.

Brisbane City Council's public libraries are hubs of our community. They exist to strengthen local communities through services and activities, centred around information, learning, recreation and culture. In partnership with the community, our library staff deliver a range of learning programs which foster a love of reading, culture and ideas. We contribute to Council's 2026 Vision for a Learning and Informed Community.

As a technician, you will play a vital role in ensuring high standards of library services are initiated and delivered. Your experience in customer focused services will create a positive experience for our library customers. You will apply your enthusiasm and energy to delivering a range of proactive services, including reading, storytelling, learning and outreach activities. Your ability to mentor others in developing their information technology skills will be highly valued. Importantly, providing support to your team leader to achieve key Library Services objectives will be crucial. Your knowledge of our diverse collections and products will enable you to deliver strong customer service and contribute to achieving our broader goals as a branch.

To be considered for this role, you will have:

  • · experience and a commitment to delivering a strong customer focus in a dynamic public library
  • success in delivering on activities and services such as promotion, outreach and children's services
  • experience in maintaining the library collection and applying collection management principles.
  • effective interpersonal and written communication skills
  • success in working effectively in a high performing team environment while supporting your team leader
  • success in maintaining and operating library technical equipment.
