The University of Melbourne, Australia
The University of Melbourne is a leading international University with a tradition of excellence in teaching and research. Melbourne's outstanding
performance in international rankings puts it at the forefront of higher education in the Asia-Pacific region and the world, consistently being ranked by
the THES among the world's top 50 universities, most recently at 28. As part of its ambitious 'Growing Esteem' strategy, Melbourne aspires to be a
public-spirited and internationally-engaged institution, broadening its contribution to society through research, learning, teaching and engagement.
The University Library is at the intellectual heart of the University of Melbourne. Its physical facilities attract 3 million visitors per year and hold
over 3 million items, valuable primary and secondary resources for the University's students and research community and countless unique, rare and valuable
special collections. The University Library is committed to increasing public and private sector support to continue to improve its physical space, as well
as to further build its Cultural Collections. The University Library seeks a new Senior Development Manager who will be responsible for the implementation
of a robust fundraising strategy, including the ongoing development of the University Library's case for support. The postholder will cultivate and solicit
significant philanthropic gifts from individuals and organisations and play a leading role in the development and implementation of an eight-figure
fundraising campaign for the proposed redevelopment of the Baillieu Library.
Your track record in securing major philanthropic gifts from individuals and organisations will be matched by your highly developed interpersonal and
relationship building skills and the ability to motivate and develop volunteers. You will have the ability to work both independently and collaboratively
as part of a team within a complex environment. A strong affinity with and passion for the University Library's work and University's mission together with
an ability to champion this mission among external and internal constituents will be key.
