The Department of Parliamentary Services (DPS) is recruiting for an Assistant Secretary to manage the Information Access Branch, Parliamentary Library.

The AS (IAB) reports to the Parliamentary Librarian and is responsible for building and providing access to the collections, library and research services used by Senators and Members of the House of Representatives, their staff and the staff of parliament.

This is position is a professional/specialist position, where tertiary qualifications and extensive experience in the library and information sector (librarian) are highly regarded.

The Branch has three sections (Collection Management, Database Services and Central Enquiry Point); about 50 staff, and an annual budget of about $7.1m.

We are seeking to fill the position of Assistant Secretary Information Access Branch on an ongoing basis in anticipation of the known retirement date of the nominal occupant.
