As a professional practitioner, the Librarian Grade 1, Collection Services provides library services, specifically, access to the collection in a range of
formats through the analysis, interpretation and organisation of information; and participates in operations and projects to develop, organise and
interpret the collections of the State Library.

Selection Criteria:
The following selection criteria form a specific part of the selection process. Applicants must address each of the criteria by responding to the selection
criteria questions in the Application Form tab.

Sound knowledge of library and information service concepts, principles and theory, and a sound understanding of library systems, practices and
procedures, including national and international standards used in the provision of access to library collection materials.

Sound knowledge of library collection development principles; capacity to select, evaluate and allocate collection materials in a client focussed
environment.

Awareness of developments and trends in bibliographic access and information and communication technology.

Ability to acquire and apply new knowledge and skills, or apply training, feedback, or other opportunities for self-learning and professional
development.

Skills in the use of library systems and bibliographic databases with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.

Demonstrated teamwork skills including the ability to communicate effectively and work flexibly and collaboratively, and to work with others to solve
problems and achieve team goals.

Demonstrated capacity to coordinate work, set priorities and meet deadlines.

Qualifications acceptable for professional membership of the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA), or other combination of
qualifications and experience deemed by the State Librarian to be equivalent that meets the minimum standard of skill and knowledge inherent in the
ALIA standard.
