Macquarie University is first among the nation's universities under 50 years of age due to significant investment in areas of research

University Library opened in August 2011 and is the first University Library in Australia to install an Automated Storage and Retrieval
System (ASRS). This technology underpins a shift in focus from traditional hard copy resources to support for technology enabled
learning.
Within the Library, the role of the Library Resources team is to provide access to high quality information resources that support
world-class research and research-enhanced teaching.
The Role
The Library is seeking a Research and Scholarly Information Librarian to join the Research and Scholarly Information Team.
The team supports the University's research and scholarly information agenda by collecting research outputs (including digital theses),
ensuring metadata integrity, collecting verification documentation for University research output, undertaking e-research data
activities, and assisting in managing research data services.
Primary responsibilities of the role are to:

Identify, collect and describe Macquarie University scholarly publications;

Develop, implement and review processes to capture, store and expose the University's scholarly information;

Create original metadata templates, stylesheets and records in compliance with national and international standard;

Maintain the Macquarie University ResearchOnline system through configuration and other system change;

Provide specialist advice and support to clients on copyright, open access, scholarly communication and intellectual property.
The incumbent will coordinate and review the Library's role and activities relating to the Higher Education Research Data Collection
(HERDC) process.
Selection Criteria
To be considered for this position applications must respond to the selection criteria below and attach as a separate document in

Degree or equivalent experience in Library and Information Science or related discipline.

Demonstrated knowledge of scholarly information, open access and copyright issues as they relate to digital repositories

Demonstrated knowledge and experience in working with metadata schemas, data classification and digital collection management

Knowledge of the higher education and research landscape in Australia, with a thorough understanding of government directions and
current assessment exercises such as the Excellence in Research for Australia (ERA) and Higher Education Research Data Collection
(HERDC).

Demonstrated ability to use a range of software to manipulate documents, extract data and convert data between formats, e.g. from
Excel to XML through the use of existing conversion scripts

Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills, including the ability to effectively negotiate and influence
