The Information Resources Group provides information management services to Swinburne. It has about 100 staff (about 75 FTE) located across five campuses
in Melbourne, and provides support to these and to the overseas campus in Kuching (Sarawak) and to offshore teaching.
The position is to provide support to both the Copyright Office and other aspects of the management and delivery of digital information services to the
University. This will include providing support for copyright and licensing; digital repositories; online subject materials; publishing; and other library
and information services. It encompasses administrative support, assistance with development and delivery of training to staff and students, and management
of web and other information resources.
This is a learning position, and is intended to provide an opportunity for training, experience and practice in a variety of 21st century information
services in a university environment. It is an opportunity to gain skills in the application of Australian copyright law in the tertiary education sector
and to engage with current issues around the online delivery of digital content. The person appointed will gain working experience in areas such as digital
media, research repositories, and online delivery of educational resources, as well as copyright and commercial licensing. The incumbent will be trained in
existing processes and will gain broad-ranging experience of the manner in which online information resources are being utilised in higher education.
Skills & Experience
The position would best suit a recent librarian, legal or other graduate with an interest in the online delivery of educational resources and in exploring
new areas of library and information services. To be successful in this role you must have completed a relevant degree or an equivalent combination of
relevant experience and/or education/training.
You will also need to demonstrate:
A good understanding of current digital content delivery environment, particularly in relation to tertiary education.
A strong interest in copyright and copyright issues in education and an ability to develop knowledge and skills in copyright, including statutory and
commercial licences governing the delivery of educational content in Australia.
Excellent communication, organization, and administrative skills including the ability to engage fluently with a wide range of university and other
stakeholders.
Proven skills in using digital technologies including web publishing, email, spreadsheets and databases.
The ability to work effectively under pressure, meet deadlines and ensure accuracy in documentation.
