Macquarie University is first among the nation's universities under 50 years of age due to significant investment in areas of research
excellence. Located on 126 hectares, we enjoy excellent facilities and we are easily accessible by rail and bus. The new Macquarie
University Library opened in August 2011 and is the first University Library in Australia to install an Automated Storage and Retrieval
System (ASRS). This technology underpins a shift in focus from traditional hard copy resources to support for technology enabled
learning.
Within the Library, the role of the Library Services team is to deliver client focused services utilising new and emerging technologies
in line with University strategic directions for a blended learning and research experience.
The Role
As a Library Services Officer you will provide professional, efficient and customer-centred services to clients in both the physical
and virtual environments. The Library's client centred service model means that you will be providing service support at a number of
service zones.
You will be a member of a team with a specific client focus. Within your team you will report to a Library Service Coordinator with
whom you will collaborate to develop and deliver service support. Whilst in Service Zones, you will take direction from, and refer or
escalate issues to, the Library Services Coordinator responsible for that shift.
Excellent communication, a strong client focus, and technical and organisational skills are essential to success in this role along
with attention to detail and the ability to work effectively in a team.
Day evening and weekend shifts will be required.
Selection Criteria

Qualification or equivalent experience in library studies or related discipline;

Skill and experience in providing responsive, accurate and timely services to clients and customer;

Sound written and verbal communication skills;

Skill and experience collaborating with and working as part of a team;

Skill and experience in identifying and developing service improvements;

Sound computer skills including word processing, internet and email.
