Booth College is The Salvation Army’s education & training body for NSW and QLD with its main campus situated in Bexley North. The main purpose of the college is to equip people for service within and beyond The Salvation Army.

Our Library:

Booth College library currently houses a collection of 27,000 volumes and caters to the need of approximately 150 students studying undergraduate and post graduate qualifications. These students graduate as ordained ministers of religion to carry out the life changing work of The Salvation Army.

About the opportunity:

As the Senior Librarian, you will oversee the strategic direction of the library, its operations and policies, in order to ensure that the library meets the current and future needs of the college. You will manage the employees and volunteers of the library and play an active role in Booth College Committees, the Academic Board and the Sydney College of Divinity Library Committee.

Essential Requirements:

  • An understanding, empathy, appreciation and the ability to promote the values and ethos of The Salvation Army (in particular Booth College)
  • Comprehensive understanding of the context of a Higher Education facility
  • Undergraduate degree in Library or Information Services
  • High level attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team and coordinate tasks.
  • Demonstrated computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel), Library management software and Endnote
  • Proven ability to think analytically and problem-solve.
  • Completion of a professional qualification in librarianship
  • Proven experience as a Librarian (preferably in an Higher Educational institution)
  • Considerable professional experience and extensive knowledge of scholarly information resources and practices

Desirable requirements:

  • Professional membership (ALIA)
  • Familiarity with theological education

Library Hours:

Work hours would be in shifts that may span from 9.30am – 8.30pm and willingness to work occasionally on Saturdays (10am – 2pm) will be required.
