Gaining Certified Practitoner (CP) status
The Certified Practitioner (CP) post nominal is recognised and respected within the sector and demonstrates your commitment to professional development. Use the post nominal when applying for a new job!
Certified Practitioner post-nominal (CP)
You are eligible to use the additional Certified Practitioner post-nominal (CP) when:
- you participate in the scheme for one year;
- you collect a minimum of 30 points annually; and
- you continue to meet PD compliance requirements.
As an AALIA(CP) and ALIATec(CP) member, you are recognised by your colleagues, employers and the sector for your level of commitment to lifelong learning which assists you to remain flexible and adaptable to change in the dynamic environment of the library and information sector.

Certified Practitioner (CP) certificate
A certificate of achievement is issued, upon application, at the end of a triennium (three years) to acknowledge your compliance with the scheme and to celebrate this achievement.
You are eligible to apply for a Certified Practitioner certificate when:
- you participate in the scheme for three years (triennium); and
- you accumulate the minimum of 120 points over a PD triennium (three years)
To apply, download the application form [pdf 134kb] and return your completed application to ALIA national office. A certificate fee of $36.00 (including GST) is payable at the time of application.
