Professional Development Scheme
ALIA provides a broad range of professional development services to support our members, including discounts on events and seminars, access to careers resources and the Professional Development (PD) Scheme.
The ALIA PD Scheme is a mechanism for professional Associate and Library Technician members to record their participation in continual professional development. The Scheme also demonstrates members' commitment to life-long learning and is a way to gain recognition from colleagues, employers and the profession for that commitment.
As a participant in the PD Scheme you are showing a commitment to your professional growth and recognition within the profession by the entitlement to use post nominals CP (Certified Practitioner) and by gaining the distinction of 'Associate Fellow' after 5 years of compliance in the PD Scheme.
Participation in the Scheme will help you
- Strengthen your technical knowledge, skills and competencies
- Make sure you stay up to date
- Formally track your professional progress and achievements
- Gain recognition within the profession through using the additional Certified Practitioner (CP) post-nominal, by applying for a Certified Practitioner certificate and by meeting the criteria to become an Associate Fellow (AFALIA or AFALIATec)
