    What are the benefits of joining the ALIA PD scheme?

    The ALIA professional development [PD] scheme maintains and broadens your knowledge and skills and assists in the development of personal qualities in order to enhance your career-long professional performance, and to have that commitment recognised by others. By taking a structured approach to your professional development, you demonstrate a formal commitment to enhancing your professional practice. The ALIA career development kit will help you develop a structured approach.

    Within the ALIA PD scheme, a points-based system allows you to structure your PD so that you will have an appropriate mix of activities over a three-year period.

    The scheme offers a formal approach to professional development that:

    • provides a widely-accepted and endorsed record of learning for you and your employer;
    • offers a framework for identifying and planning further acquisition of skills and knowledge;
    • acknowledges your commitment to professional standards;
    • allows you to use Certified Practitioner (CP) after your post-nominals;
    • enables you to meet the criteria to become an Associate Fellow (AFALIA or AFALIATec).

    If you are interested in becoming a PD member and have not joined ALIA, please refer to our membership pages for details about the benefits that ALIA membership provides and information on how to join the Association.
