    Who can join?

    Only personal 'Associate' and 'Library Technician' members are able to join ALIA's professional development (PD) scheme.

    Associate members -

    • hold an ALIA-recognised librarian qualification at undergraduate or postrgraduate level;
    • use the postnominal AALIA whilst a financial member of ALIA;
    • can apply for positions advertised at librarian level.

    Library technician members -

    • hold an ALIA recognised library technician qualification;
    • use the postnominal ALIATec whilst a financial member of ALIA;
    • can apply for positions advertised at library technician level.

    There is no fee to join the scheme - it is a benefit of personal 'professional' membership of ALIA.

    How do you join?

    You must register to participate:

    • You can register onlinemembers-only to get started; or

    • You can downloadmembers-only [57kb pdf] ALIA's PD brochure and return it to ALIA national office

    The brochure is also available in your 'new member' pack, at ALIA events and from the Local liaison officer in your State.

    ALIA's PD officer will acknowledge receipt of your registration by e-mail and is available to clarify any queries or concerns.
