course descriptionThe Bachelor of Information Technology (Information Services) is available to students as:

  • A one year Bachelors degree conversion pathway for current students and recent graduates of ECU's Associate Degree and other undergraduate library technology programs. It equips students for a career in information services as a librarian, knowledge or information manager.
  • A major within the Bachelor of Information Technology for commencing students seeking to pursue a career as a librarian, knowledge or information manager within the framework of a three year undergraduate Bachelor of Information Technology degree.
  • Available via online (distance education) mode. Some units are also offered on campus.
The conversion and three years program are supported by track specializations in information systems, enterprise information management, marketing and management.

ALIA accreditationBoth the conversion pathway for LibTech graduates and three year Bachelor of Information Technology (Information Services) are accredited by ALIA for a period of five years from June 2012 until June 2017, subject to the submission of an Annual Course Return and the right of ALIA to reassess courses on the occurrence of what, in ALIA's view, are exceptional circumstances, and in any event, once during that five-year period, and not later than June 2017.
Course Advisory CommitteeThe Course Advisory Committee is made up of local industry representatives who participate in reviewing and evaluating the course material and provides input into current trends in the industry.

The Course Advisory Committee meets twice per year.
