course descriptionThe Master of Information Studies in Librarianship:

Available over one year full time or the equivalent period part time. This innovative course has been designed to meet the needs of four-year tertiary graduates (or equivalent) who want to become Library and Information Professionals. Our other specialisations are Knowledge Management, Internet Communication and Records Management – or there is a general stream. Students in the Librarianship specialisation have the opportunity to complete elective units in related fields such as Records Management or Information Architecture. There are Commonwealth Supported Places for Librarianship and Records Management specialisations.

This course meets University of Canberra's rigorous quality frameworks. A truly Masters level course! The course can be completed totally online and studied from anywhere in the world. Study part time (two years or more) or full time (one year) – you choose!

Course Description
This course aims to qualify students as information and knowledge professionals in diverse and contemporary environments. It is designed to equip students with the relevant skills for professional practice in all knowledge and information management agencies including libraries. The course emphasises the management and use of digital information for a diverse society and an organisation’s competitive advantage in the effective use of the internet. A broad theoretical base, emphasising the need for communication, is translated into the necessary skills for professional practice. The course allows for specialisation in the fields of Knowledge Management, Internet Communication, Librarianship and Records Management and for a general stream that allows students to customise an information studies qualification to suit their career needs.
