course descriptionThe MBIS Professional is a coursework program which offers advanced studies in library and information services, information management, electronic recordkeeping and archiving, and related information technology disciplines including knowledge management, business intelligence, business systems, business application development and enterprise systems. The MBIS Professional consists of four semesters of full-time study, or the part-time equivalent. It is offered on Monash University's Caulfield Campus with subjects available in a variety of mode: day and evening classes and through flexible delivery for on-campus and/or distance mode. Applicants for admission must normally have qualified for a bachelor's degree at a satisfactory level at Monash University or at another tertiary institution approved by the Faculty of Information Technology.

ALIA accreditationThe Master of Business Information Systems (LIS Stream) and the Master of Business Information Systems Professional (LIS Stream) offered by Monash University is accredited by ALIA for a period of seven years, from 1 January 2006, subject to a satisfactory annual course return being provided by Monash University, and the right of ALIA to reassess the course on the occurrence of what, in ALIA's view, are exceptional circumstances and in any event, once during that seven year period, and not later than December 2015.
Course Advisory CommitteeThe Course Advisory Committee is made up of local industry representatives who participate in reviewing and evaluating the course material and provides input into current trends in the industry.

The Course Advisory Committee meets twice per year.
