course descriptionAdvanced Diploma of Library/Information Services with an earlier exit point at Diploma of Library/Information Services. Applicants may choose to study part time, at a pace that suits their particular needs, or study full time which takes three years. The program is offered at the SMB Campus using a combination of weekend workshops and online delivery. All students, whether full time or part time, are required to attend weekend workshops and have access to a computer and the internet.

To be accepted into the course, applicants will need to demonstrate an awareness of the nature of work in libraries, good organisation and time management skills, a willingness to learn in a team environment, have good communication skills and the ability to interact with others.

Applicants need to have basic knowledge of computers including some familiarity with e-mail and the internet, knowledge of Mircrosoft Windows and Microsoft Office and will need to have access to a computer and the internet.

Applicants will be required to submit a written course application which is available on request from the course co-ordinator. This application will be used to shortlist applicants for a place in the course. Shortlisted applicants may be required to attend an interview, either face-to-face or by telephone.

Course Advisory CommitteeThe Course Advisory Committee is made up of local industry representatives who participate in reviewing and evaluating the course material and provides input into current trends in the industry.
