| course description | Available over one year in the second year of a study program and is generally taken as a continuation of the Certificate III/IV in Library / Information Services that is undertaken in the first-year of study. It is assumed that students undertaking the course will either be employed as library assistants or intend taking up employment in the library or allied information industries. The course is available on a full-time or part-time basis.
Entry to the Certificate III and hence to the Diploma requires: general educational competencies in literacy and research skills such as would normally be acquired through the successful completion of a Year 12 certificate or as a mature-age entrant; high-level communication skills; keyboarding skills; the ability to use a word-processing package to produce and edit documents; the ability to create and use a simple spreadsheet; and the ability to gather, record and convey simple and routine information. |

| Course Advisory Committee | The Course Advisory Committee is made up of local industry representatives who participate in reviewing and evaluating the course material and provides input into current trends in the industry.
The Course Advisory Committee meets 3-4 times a year.
