course description(CUL50104 from the Library / Information Services Training Package). Available over three semesters (18 months) full-time. Entry requires completion of Year 12 at a Queensland secondary school or equivalent or meeting mature-age entry requirements, plus basic keyboarding, word-processing and spreadsheet skills and the ability to gather, record and convey simple and routine information.
closing date for applicationsProposed diploma of Library and Information Services (CUL 50111) from the new Training Package to begin Semester 1, 2013.

Full-time: Applications for the course are handled by the Queensland Tertiary Admissions Centre (QTAC). The course is advertised in the Queensland Tertiary Admissions Handbook each year. One intake through QTAC every year with applications closing the last Friday in September for those wishing to start in February the next year.

Special consideration may be given to mid-year enrolment where students are transferring from another library studies program to complete the course at Southbank Institute of Technology.

ALIA accreditationThe Diploma of Library and Information Services is recognised by ALIA until November 2014.
Course Advisory CommitteeThe Course Advisory Committee is made up of local industry representatives who participate in reviewing and evaluating the course material and provides input into current trends in the industry.

The Course Advisory Committee meets 3-4 times per year.
