course descriptionThe degree is aimed at preparing students for the exciting and dynamic library and information world. It is available over one and a half years full-time and three years part-time. Mid-year entry is available to part-time students. The degree is offered in a flexible delivery mode which allows students to complete their studies either face-to-face or online. Students are encouraged to move between the two modes of delivery as needed by their changing life demands during the course of their studies. For those students interested in undertaking a degree that involves a higher level of research an Advanced version of the degree is also available. The Advanced version includes an additional 48 credit points (or one semester) of research and project coursework. The Advanced degree is available over two years full time and four years part time. To be eligible for admission, applicants are required to have a degree or a three-year diploma in any field with a GPA at least 4.5 (7-point scale) and to demonstrate basic skills in computer literacy. In addition to the Library and Information Science degree QUT has introduced three new areas of study: Information Management; Digital Environments; and Executive Information Practice.

ALIA accreditationThis course offered by Queensland University of Technology (Gardens Point) is recognised by ALIA for a period of five years, from March 2012 , subject to a satisfactory annual return being provided by Queensland University of Technology and the right of ALIA to reassess the course on the occurrence of what, in ALIA's view, are exceptional circumstances, and in any event, once during that five-year period, and not later than March 2017.
Course Advisory CommitteeThe Course Advisory Committee is made up of local industry representatives who participate in reviewing and evaluating the course material and provides input into current trends in the industry.

The Course Advisory Committee meets 4 times a year.
