| course description | As a result of an extensive review of our courses during 2008-2009 the School will be offering fully revised programs for 2010, allowing for specialisations in Applied Research, Children’s Librarianship, Community Networking, Information Architecture, Librarianship, Information and Knowledge Management, Librarianship, Library Leadership and Records and Archives Management. The degree of Master of Applied Science (Library and Information Management) is no longer offered by the School. However, this was an ALIA accredited award and as such, graduates of this program are still eligible for professional membership of ALIA.
Both the generic awards, Master of Information Studies and Graduate Diploma of Information Studies, and awards featuring any of the specialisations in the course, are accredited by ALIA.
Normally undertaken over three years of part-time study. The course consists of two stages - Stage One exit point is available as a Graduate Diploma of Information Studies; Stage Two consists of four coursework subjects which may focus on one of the specialisations or can taken from across all of the Stage 2 subjects offered. Available by distance education study only. Applicants must have substantial access to the internet. Undergraduate degree normally required for entry. Additional experience or qualifications an advantage. No compulsory residential schools.

| closing date for applications | Applications are received by the university throughout the year. Commonwealth-funded places are generally available. There are three intakes, in March, July and November. |

| ALIA accreditation | The Graduate Diploma of Information Studies and Master of Information Studies offered by Charles Sturt University are accredited by ALIA for a period of five years, from December 2011, subject to a satisfactory annual return being provided by Charles Sturt University, and the right of ALIA to reassess the courses on the occurrence of what, in ALIA's view, are exceptional circumstances, and in any event, once during that five-year period, and not later than December 2016. |
| Course Advisory Committee | The Course Advisory Committee is made up of local industry representatives who participate in reviewing and evaluating the course material and provides input into current trends in the industry.
The Course Advisory Committee meets once per year.
