  • The Little Big Book Club providing support, training and resources to parents, libraries, child care centres, teachers and those people who work in early childhood environments.

The Little Big Book Club (LBBC) is a national not for profit organisation dedicated to the promotion of reading and encouraging parents and caregivers to share books with their children from infancy.

Since 2006, The Little Big Book Club with the support and guidance of the early childhood sector has been developing and implementing early reading programs on a national scale, by providing a holistic approach to early literacy development in children aged 0-2 years, 2&3 years and 4&5 years. The primary objectives of which are:

• to promote the love of reading and importance of reading to children from infancy

• to support parents and caregivers in providing their children with a crucial early base for lifelong literacy, success in formal schooling and improved life chances.

Reading regularly with young children is the single most important activity that a parent or caregiver can undertake to develop a child’s ability to read and write. Research shows that the human brain is most open to environmental influences in the first few years of life with 75% of brain development occurring between birth and the age of four.

To support parents in reading regularly to their young children, The Little Big Book Club runs its Monthly Selections program which assists parents in choosing age appropriate, tried and loved books for children aged 0-5 years.

The three Monthly Selections titles are featured in selected News Ltd newspapers, public libraries and book stores. Printable Activity Sheets and Lesson Plans are also available to download and are a great way to extend the experience of reading the featured Monthly Selections.

The Little Big Book Club offers a range of support materials and guidance for parents and caregivers of young children and there are many great resources available through its website that can be accessed for free and used within home, library or childcare environments.

The Little Big Book Club’s success in delivering its highly successful reading development programs and early childhood resources lies in working collaboratively with carefully selected partners who recognise the importance of literacy, both for community wellbeing and for giving children a good start in life.

The Little Big Book Club is advised by a range of specialists in the early childhood sector as to what resources are required to support parents and caregivers. Corporate partners and local, State and Federal Government support is vital in funding the development and distribution of these resources.
