  • Bookstart aims to provide a free pack of books to every baby in the UK, to inspire, stimulate and create a love of reading that will give children a flying start in life.
  • Talk to your baby TTYB’s comprehensive website includes a wide range of free downloadable resources as well as many useful links, current sector news, research and policy updates, particularly to support practitioners working directly with parents, carers and young children.

USA:

  • Every Child Ready to Read @ your library an early literacy initiative cosponsored by the Public Library Association and the Association for Library Service to Children.
  • Reach out and read is an evidence-based nonprofit organization that promotes early literacy and school readiness in pediatric exam rooms nationwide by giving new books to children and advice to parents about the importance of reading aloud.
  • Reading is Fundamental Leading to Reading. All Reading Is Fundamental programs combine three essential elements to foster children's literacy: reading motivation, family and community involvement, and the excitement of choosing free books to keep.
  • Storyblocks is a project of Colorado Libraries for Early Literacy, working in partnership with Rocky Mountain Public Broadcasting Services. It is a collection of 30-60 second videos designed to model to parents, caregivers, and library staff some songs, rhymes, and fingerplays appropriate for early childhood. Each video clip includes helpful early literacy tips to increase caregivers’ understanding of child development and pre-literacy needs.
