Queensland Library Technician of the Year [Recent Graduate] Award

This award, for recent graduates in library and information sciences in Queensland, aims to promote the role and image of library technicians in the library and information industry and/or in the wider community and to encourage library technicians to join and support their professional association, ALIA.

This award is sponsored by Queensland Library Supplies Pty Ltd and is administered by the ALIA Queensland Library Technician Group committee and an appointed representative from the sponsor.

Closing date: Friday 24 April 2008

Selection criteria

The nominee has

  1. Graduated in the previous three years from any Queensland institution or by external study and eligible for library technician membership of the Australian Library and Information Association and have:

  2. Well developed interpersonal and communication skills and an ability to work with clients to deliver quality service.

  3. Personal qualities which demonstrate an ability to manage workflows without supervision and an ability to work in a team.

  4. Knowledge of library principles and practice as evidenced by performance of duties.

  5. The ability to use information technology and multimedia equipment within the library and information services environment.

  6. A high degree of professionalism and commitment to furthering the mission of the nominating organisation and a willingness to work towards gaining recognition for library technicians in the library and information industry.
