This year we celebrate our 75th anniversary at ALIA. Congratulations and thanks to all the dedicated professionals who have worked so hard to make ALIA the peak professional body for the Australian library and information industry.ALIA Board Directors announced

ALIA Online Conference announced
Brisbane has been selected as the location for the ALIA Information Online 2013 Conference. The conference will be held in the week 11th-15th February 2013. Jane Cowell of SLQ will chair the conference organising committee.ALIA REMINDERS

- Voting has closed for the Our story NYR book collection with thousands of people choosing a single book to represent their state or territory during the National Year of Reading 2012. The eight winning titles will be announced on 14 February. If you have a book you would have liked to see included on the short list - one that captures the spirit of your state or territory let the NYR team know on facebook or twitter and they will publish a "Ones that got away" list at the end of the month.

Information gathered is used for a variety of purposes; providing a snapshot of the spread of the technology as well as becoming a valuable resource for users to gain information about their supplier's performance and other user's experiences. Individual reports are sent to all responders and their suppliers showing performance in key areas like reliability of equipment, speed of response etc. Results are made available free of charge.

The Manifesto provides principles to assist libraries in undertaking sustainable and interoperable digitisation activities to bridge the digital divide - a key factor in achieving the Millennium Development Goals of the United Nations. Digital libraries are essential for access to information, and for preserving national heritage.
