YOUR ASSOCIATIONALIA welcomes new leadership
- New Board Directors
- Edmund Balnaves - Edmund has served in academic, government and business roles covering both library services and information technology. In the last 15 years through his business, Prosentient Systems, he has provided local and international libraries with information technology for collaborative document delivery, digital library systems and library management systems.
- Elke Dawson - For the last 10 years Elke has worked at CQUniversity Library in Rockhampton, and is currently Deputy Director (Resource and Access Services). Prior to this she held a variety of positions at the Gordon Institute of TAFE and Deakin and Melbourne Universities as well establishing the Goethe Institute Library in Sydney.
- Aileen Weir - Aileen has worked in all library sectors including public libraries, academic libraries and special libraries. She has been at the National Library of Australia (NLA) since 2006, overseeing virtual reference services including the AskNow chat reference service. She is currently the NLA's Director, Reader Services.
- AARL Co-Editors
- Dr. Gaby Haddow - Gaby is a senior lecturer with the Department of Information Studies at Curtin University. She is active in ALIA, as Chair of the ALIA Research Committee and a member of the Australian Library Journal's editorial board.
- Mary Anne Kennan - Mary Anne is a senior lecturer in the School of Information Studies at Charles Sturt University. She is active in ALIA, having been involved in both the program and organising committeees of the Information Online conferences for many years and currently as a member of the Research Committee.
- AARL Book Reviews Editor
- David Wells - David is the Manager, Resources (Acquisitions, Cataloguing, Access) at Charles Darwin University. He represents ALIA on the Australian Committee on Cataloguing, is the Datasets Coordinator Representative for the CAUL Electronic Information Resources Advisory Committee, and has an interest in Russian literature.
- ALJ Editorial Board Chair
- Phillip Kent - Phillip is the University Librarian at The University of Melbourne. His 30 year career in universities and CSIRO has included roles in libraries, IT, knowledge and information management, archives and records management, risk and audit.

- August INCITE: Let's get technical - From loans to statistics, from wireless to QR codes, it's a high tech world in the library and information game. What works? What doesn't? What should work? NATIONAL YEAR OF READING
- Reading Hour - We only have a little over 3 months to get ourselves organised for The Reading Hour on the 25 August. The Reading Hour will be both a focal point for the National Year of Reading and the call to action for families - "share a book with your child for 10 minutes a day, an hour a week".
